The 6 Week Body Makeover is a popular method to losing weight quickly developed by “Extreme Makeover” nutritionist Michael Thurmond. Thurmond is also a fitness expert hat has worked over a number of years developing this diet.
Unlike other types of diets, it does not rely on special foods, meal plans and components to make you lose weight in a short period of time. Instead, this is more a customized plan that lets you determine which type of food is great to speed up your metabolism, and which type of food does not help you losing weight. Along with this “body blueprinting” method, comes an exercise program, aimed at helping you tone different parts of your body to give it great shape.
The package comes in the form of a kit which contains the “body blueprinting” kit, a get-started video, exercise bands with a video on how to use them, custom shaping and eating plans, a special guide on how to eat when dining out, the “Living Lean” program and audio cassette, and a recipe/menu planner. The total package costs around $170 and is sold via Infomercial and Web.
The Main Plan
First, you need to determine your metabolism type and change it to achieve maximum fat burning. For this you will need to fill out a questionnaire. Then, you’ll need to integrate into your diet the types of food that work great with your particular metabolism, and eat less of the food that slows down your metabolic process. There are some great recipes out there and followers of this diet are always adding new ones online!
Determining your body type is also an integral part of the 6 week plan, this way you can spot your problem areas and perform your workout which is aimed o last around 18 minutes, and performed twice a week. Finally, after achieving your results, you will learn how to keep the excess weight off.
Does It Work?
Yes it does, provided you have the commitment to stick to the plan. After starting this diet, I have to tell you, it is not easy to stick to the program if you accustomed to eating certain types of food and not exercising much, but this is the price you have to pay if you want to get rid of fat in a short period of time.
One thing that might set people off is that you need time to cook your meals for the week, and if you are not into cooking you will really hate this step, or maybe learn to love cooking! I have received many testimonials of people who at first hated the changes, but they learned to embrace them and have a different perspective in life, with less salt in the food, less sugar and a renewed love for fruits and vegetables.

This is the main difference with other plans, which try to cover too much, ignoring the fact that our bodies behave differently from individual to individual.

For this purpose the author has included a set of customized meal plans, recipes, menus, fat burning exercises and even a maintenance plan so all your efforts won’t go to waste. This book is an excellent read, and even if you already have the complete package, it can help you understand more in-depth certain aspects of the 6 week body makeover. People who have not bought the complete package will find the book a great way to sample Thurmond’s ideas.
One thing that stands out is that this book has been well written and organized so you don’t feel lost at any point. To start, you will have to follow a quiz which will help you determine your body type (represented by letters A, B, C, D and E) and from there you will need to follow a diet plan according to the results. This program will not make you feel hungry since it consists of 5-6 meals a day. Additionally, it also recommends following daily slow distance exercise in order to keep the body healthy and your body toned during the weight loss phase. This is a step often overlooked in diet plans, when exercise is in fact part of a healthy lifestyle.
